Brace for a Very Different 2026
As 2025 draws to a close, I just wanted to say a big thank you from Eman and I, and the entire team at Practice Proof, for all your support this year. We genuinely appreciate the trust you place in us.
In my view, 2026 will be one of the most critical years ever for marketing your practice — and I haven’t felt that way since 2005, when I first launched this business.
Back then, dare I say it, most law firms — if they even had a website — were essentially using it as an online brochure. You simply put up what you had to in case someone searched online.
Between 2002 and 2007, we saw a rapid rollout of new technologies, many of which stemmed from Google. SEO emerged. So did Google Ads. Two developments that completely changed the marketing landscape.
Now, as we head into 2026, we’re entering the AI era, which is rapidly changing just about everything.
From a marketing perspective, this is both exciting and overwhelming — and we’re already seeing a major shift as traditional SEO evolves into what’s now called AEO — Answer Engine Optimisation. It’s no longer just about ranking on Google. It’s about becoming the trusted answer across AI-driven platforms.
In fact, I believe that next year, many firms running Google Ads will likely be augmenting those campaigns with advertising opportunities on platforms like ChatGPT and other AI-driven marketplaces.
At the same time, brand awareness is becoming more important than ever. The firms that will do well moving forward won’t just be the ones who are found — they’ll be the ones who are remembered, recognised, and trusted before the search even happens.
And while the technology continues to evolve, the fundamentals still do the heavy lifting:
- Consistent social media
- Smart email campaigns
- Effective Meta advertising
- Strong, clear messaging
- Reputation building through Google reviews and legal directories
- And, of course, rock-solid positioning
These aren’t optional extras. They’re the foundation everything will be built on from next year onwards.
Just as important as what we do is how consistently we do it. Cadence matters. Momentum matters.
